18 tracks is a lot of music to put on 1 project. From a consumer standpoint that’s just a ton of music to consume in one sitting, attention spans being as short as they are today. Now from an artists point of view that’s a hell of a risk to take because the track order and pace of the project can definitely doom it to being skipped all around and through. Luckily for an artist like Big Sean who has been carrying a large percentage of his mixtape fans through his life experiences of chasing a deal, landing a deal, being practically benched by one of the most influential artists in rap today to finally dropping major label releases… we’ve been waiting patiently on this album. With the consistency in the quality of his projects it doesn’t bother his core audience that he’s picking up mainstream and what may considered pop music fans simply because his methods haven’t changed from day one.

Hall Of Fame is appropriately titled as it chronicles his initial “interaption” with Kanye at his local radio station to what can be considered to be a slot at pretty much the top of the game. It’s a great album, an excellent album but not quite a classic. Singles like Guap, Fire, Beware and Mula are a pretty good representation of the albums dynamic range of emotion. Which is something we are used to from Big Sean. Album tracks like Toyota Music (my personal fav), 10 2 10, Sierra Leone and It’s Time feat. Young Jeezy reinforce that same energy. Dope production choices and signature Big Sean wit will have you on a third listen before you realize it. Aside from the aforementioned Jeezy appearance Hall Of Fame features work from Lil Wayne, Jhene Aiko, Nas, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, Payroll, Miguel, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, Earl Mack & Common. Yea I know it seems like a lot right?! However this project does have 18 tracks so there’s more than enough to go around. Ultimately a very well put together album, another great release to add to Sean’s discography.
